Twilight is the best book I've ever read - And believe me I've read a lot. I got the school librarian to order the entire series in so my friends could read them and she ended up having to buy more they were that popular! It's beautifully written and such a captivating tale. I deny any girl not to fall in love with Edward Cullen.
I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one, but when i did... i wasn't satisfied.
This book isn't bad at all, and if you are a neil-fan, by all means read it. But, this book just wasn't as inventive, as surprising, touching or original.
the concept is great... the excecution.. not that great. There is nothing new, and i felt that i'd seen all the tricks before.
(Strangely, the book...
Wolf Island is a very good book. Full of twist and turns and ended on a cruel cliff hanger.
Grubbs Grady and his friends must fight hordes of demons and werewolves. Grubbs tries to hold his inner wolf in. He and his friends try to survive and escape. This story is at the same time of the seventh book, showing what Grubbs was doing while the famous magician Bernabaus fought his battle,...
So many things happen in such a short space of time that there is no chance to be bored with this book. Everyone is still trying to assassinate Merry and her men, there are lots of cliff hanger moments and plenty of blood, but very little sex in this one.
I agree with some other reviewers that the rape is glossed over, but I think this is more to do with so much happening and Merry has not yet...
This is the 12th book in the series and probably the best so far. Some of the Demonata books were shallow and dull, this was a cracker, Darren SHan was born in London in 1972 and moved to Ireland when he was 6 years old, where he has lived ever since. He started out writing books for adults, and managed to get a couple published. One day, on a whim,he decided to try a book for children. The result...
oh WOW this book was great just glad what i got it i also got the other 2 as i have 3 to read one after the other i could not put them down and now i am waiting for the next one they are full of action and you get thinking that you are really living as cassie if you get in to your books like me and can get the pictures in you head as you read. you really get in to it a great book and left...
From the first moment in book one, Lord Loss, when Grubbs Grady encounters the Demonata and their evil minions it is obvious to the reader that Darren Shan books are from a different dimension. You really have to read them with an open mind, and a slightly twisted one too! The heroes are constantly changing, from Grubbs in book one to Kernel Fleck in book two, back to Grubbs in three and then Bec in...
With a cover as flashy as this you'd atleast expect something along the lines of decent writing...
But no. We get this...
I couldn't get any further then the third chapter - I got so bored early on, probably because i've grown up reading books from the great authors, Darren Shan, Ray Bradbury, Keith Gray... ETC...
This had the lamest main character i think i've ever come across, she...
Firstly, shop around and get the "Skeleton Crew" anthology instead, where you'll get several other King short stories as well as this novella - much better value, so a star off for that.
Great King story, classic set-up and scares, and some nice observations about the siege mentality of humankind. Possibly even a link to the "Dark Tower" series - has the Arrowhead Project ripped a hole between...
