Have had every edition and I still carry a copy in my bag. Anyone doing acute takes who thinks they don't need to reflect on some aspects of some cases will come to grief. I am reassured when I see junior docs carrying a well worn copy.
This pocket sized book is an absolute gem for the new/ student physiotherapist. It is packed full of the basic (and some more advanced) facts that you learn and put in to practice during early lectures and placements. In fact i'm sure it's a handy reminder even for experienced physiotherapists every now and then. The plastic cover and size make the book both convenient and hard wearing and therefore...
The chapters are repetitive. The book gives you an idea of how to assess without going into specific details about why we do what we do and what to do with our findings.
Well laid out. easy to read. lots of nice diagrams. ok so it won't get you honours points but should contain enough to pass and is far less intimidating than those huge physiology texts. great for preclinical medics. not enough detail for pure physiology students though.

I particularly like the sections on pain management (including visiting the dentist), smoking cessation, negative emotions, bereavement, and accessing "lost" memories. There's also a small collection of...
The change to colour is a vast improvement but it has some pretty big failings. The information is relatively comprehensive but is spread out over several chapters and sub chapters. This means that you have to hunt for the rest of the information across several sub chapters and sections that would naturally be grouped together. Makes it great fun for lecturers as you literally do have to read every...
This is an invaluable book for anybody interested in the spine and how to mobilise it. Maitland manages to make you feel like he is just there helping you practice his techniques. it can sometimes be a hard book to read because it has so much useful information, but you'll never put it down. Whether you are a physio, Dr, sports therapis or a student this book is a must. you will find yourself...
For those who love the intrigue of the human body, this is a fascinating book. It is very thought provoking and has definitely helped me in my own business.
A must read for anyone involved in Sports Injuries.
