Bought this book in December 2006, finally got round to reading it in May, have not smoked since. Btw - I started smoking in 1990 and was a chain smoker, going up to 40 (some days even 60) a day. Am so glad I kicked this disgusting and expensive habit.
Written by two eminent clinical psychologists this book had potential written all over it.However the potential didn't ring true for me as I was left feeling a little perplexed at the books end.
The book itself is clearly written and divided into easily digestible chapters. However the main theme is recognising and changing disruptive thought patterns and the manner in which the authors...
If you, like me, tend to buy a chocolate bar when queuing up to pay for petrol or can't walk down the sweet aisle at the supermarket without putting a bar of fruit & nut in your basket, then this book is for you. This was my main problem, but I also couldn't leave some food on my plate or not have a pudding at the end of a meal. The reasons I did these, is that I was an overeater. Like smokers and...
I have had this book for a few years (I assume it is the same issue) and as a Personal Trainer I have referred to it on many occasions. It is an excellent resource for anyone interested in weight training or the anatomical processes and muscles involved. The diagrams are superb and descriptions are very informative.
However I would just like to point out that the muscular and skeletal diagrams...
The chart is very clear and really detailed, brilliant value for the price. However, my one criticism is that there is so much info packed onto this poster that it is sometimes not 100% clear. Brilliant for learning the names of muscles but not so good if you need to see specific sites of attatchment etc. If they'd spread the info over 2, or even 4, posters I would happily have bought them all, and...
Have suffered from depression for over 30 years on and off! . . I am not sure if a book can help. I have read loads and still find that if I am kind to myself and allow the depression to run its course, don't fight it or hide from it. (AND DON'T FEEL GUILTY ABOUT IT.) Then this too will pass. We each have to find our own way through our maze! Do we not. I wish all who are depressed a brighter future....
I have read a number of books in the overcoming series and they were all helpful. This book addresses depression in a kind, understanding and compassionate way. It looks at things that I never understood about depression, such as issues around perfectionism and anger. I was recommended to the overcoming books by a friend ... I could honestly say they have been a lifesaver in difficult times and I...
I bought this book on a whim without really knowing in which context it was written, whilst I was surprised, I was not dissapointed.
This is not a wishy washy parents handbook with vague advice, it is a very thorough study into the development of babies based on the care given. It is no easy read, but certainly a worthwhile one.
I must add, that if you are reading it following...
Me = Medical student, and this anatomy poster really hit the standard for me. I thoroughly recommend the Anatomical Chart Company's posters, which are very high print quality, at full anatomical detail (and split into layers such as muscular, skeletal and visceral). It's by Lippencott, so if you're a medic, nurse or someone who just really wants to know anatomy (as well as looking uber-clever with...
I am using this book during my duty as an offshore medic and it has helped me a lot of times. Sometimes I find the information too limited, so I always utilize Google or other books I carry with me to fill certain gaps. Overall a good book to have but the Oxford Handbook of Clinical Diagnosis is needed to make this complete!
