If you are still struggling to get your newborn to sleep through the night, still getting up throughout the night to feed the little one, or perhaps you are feeling as if no end is in sight, you need to read Gina Ford's The Contented Little Baby Book. It may be the only thing you need to bring peace back into your frazzled existence with your tiny baby, or babies.
I bought this book on the back of 'What To Expect When You Are Expecting' and having borrowed this one from the library first. Both books are excellent, however I pre-ordered the 2008 edition, having read the 2004.
Why not 5 stars? Another review comments on the anglicising of the US law and support references, which is certainly the case in the 2004 edition What to Expect the First Year...
I bought this book for my son's first solid food and I wasn't dissapointed. Although you probably don't need a recipe to make an apple pure, once you're past the first stage, it's getting more interesting. I cooked my son many meals from that book and served them (not mashed) to his Daddy too - they both loved them! Gives you ideas how to combine flavours and you can get surprised.
We bought three books including "The Encyclopaedia of Pregnancy and Birth", which is very good but this one was by far the best for us. The week by week development with pictures kept us feeling close to what was happening inside. The other reviews here already say it all so I just need to say that I endorse what has already been said you just have to buy this one, ours has been well used
I made the mistake of buying this book. As with other Gina Ford books if your child doesn't conform to her regime you feel inadequate and disappointed. She advises on day one (after they have proved they can do wee and poos on potty) to confine toddler in one room all day and repeatedly put them on the potty!! No way! I bought this book months ago when i was having a 'down' day. It really cheered me up, made me feel like i wasn't the only one feeling like motherhood was a neverending chore. Just as all other Gina books this one follows on fantastically from the Contented Baby book. Just as you start to worry about the toddler years here is the book with all the answers to keep you calm and confident.
