I bought this book on the recommendation of so many mums, and it was a great help to get started through the minefield of weaning - I found the first and second stage recipes a great help, although some of the second stage ones are a bit too similar.
Unfortunately, having now reached the 9-12 month section, I'm finding it a bit less useful. The recipes still seem to be based around creating...
If you are still struggling to get your newborn to sleep through the night, still getting up throughout the night to feed the little one, or perhaps you are feeling as if no end is in sight, you need to read Gina Ford's The Contented Little Baby Book. It may be the only thing you need to bring peace back into your frazzled existence with your tiny baby, or babies.
Anyone who has children should read this book! It explains how you can help your children express their feelings verbally instead of physically and how you can encourage problem solving instead of conflict. The book is easy to read and incudes lots of examples of how each 'technique' can be applied in everyday situations. The summary pages at the end of each section provide useful reminders of the...
I bought this book on the back of 'What To Expect When You Are Expecting' and having borrowed this one from the library first. Both books are excellent, however I pre-ordered the 2008 edition, having read the 2004.
Why not 5 stars? Another review comments on the anglicising of the US law and support references, which is certainly the case in the 2004 edition What to Expect the First Year...
I bought this book for my son's first solid food and I wasn't dissapointed. Although you probably don't need a recipe to make an apple pure, once you're past the first stage, it's getting more interesting. I cooked my son many meals from that book and served them (not mashed) to his Daddy too - they both loved them! Gives you ideas how to combine flavours and you can get surprised.
We bought three books including "The Encyclopaedia of Pregnancy and Birth", which is very good but this one was by far the best for us. The week by week development with pictures kept us feeling close to what was happening inside. The other reviews here already say it all so I just need to say that I endorse what has already been said you just have to buy this one, ours has been well used
I made the mistake of buying this book. As with other Gina Ford books if your child doesn't conform to her regime you feel inadequate and disappointed. She advises on day one (after they have proved they can do wee and poos on potty) to confine toddler in one room all day and repeatedly put them on the potty!! No way! I think I lasted half an hour and I got cabin fever. I found "No-cry Potty Training...
Overjoyed but exhausted? Perplexed but purring? Then you may just be a new parent. And if you're looking for practical reassurance and advice then Secrets of the Baby Whisperer: How to Calm, Connect and Communicate with your Baby is for you.
Clearly a remarkable person, Tracy Hogg (the "baby whisperer") has an impressive ability to understand and relate to babies. Herself a mother, she is...
I was not that impressed with the original CLB book but decided to give Gina another chance so bought this one when I was looking to start my daughter on solids and found it MUCH better. If, like me, you are after a complete step by step guide to weaning and want to know what to give, when, and how much then this is the book for you. However,...
I bought this book months ago when i was having a 'down' day. It really cheered me up, made me feel like i wasn't the only one feeling like motherhood was a neverending chore. It is full of practical advice, i keep it by the bed and dip into it time and time again to read relevant chapters. Thanks netmums.
