One of the joys of listening to both John Peel's Music (as I did in the 70s and 80s on BFBS) and Home Truths was that you were never sure what was coming next. In listing the articles alphabetically, rather than chronologically, John's family have captured that experience in print. The vagaries of titling lead one from Disc to Sounds to The Guardian, The Independent and The Radio Times, hopping in...
I enjoyed this book immensely. It is very tempting to describe the book by what it is not, not autobiography, not a companion to "Sorry I haven't a clue", not about Jazz... Though I think anyone with an interest in these areas will enjoy it.
The book is quite literally a collection of rambling thoughts and reminiscences - which does not sound very appealing. But Humphs love of language and music...
I was arranging a visit to Mousehole, Cornwall and whilst researching my visit (incredibly sad, yes - well informed, yes) I stumbled across Thomas' connections with this pretty village. A friend of his, Wyn Henderson, owned the now demolished 'Lobster Pot' harbourside. Thomas delighted in the village and proclaimed that he too, wanted to live somewhere...
if you'd like comedy or would to see the funny side to being mugged and various other negative things. OOH! or if you like mark watson, comedy poet tim key or musical funny man tim minchin then buy this! buy it anyway. just because if you listen to it you'll laugh til you cant breathe, and everyone likes that lightheaded feeling.
and and and listen to his latest radio show! this time...
Broadcast Journalism year 2000 edition is a well written text following the job elements logically and clearly in an informative, but interesting manner. Practical guide to news production in radio and television. I would recommend this book to students and proffesionals who are already working in the industry. It also incorporates the new media technologies which is important.
This big book of Hancock is like combining many of he previously published books, nothing new here, but still good if you don't have the others. Same photos as already published, nothing new there. Otherwise, would recommend if you don't already own a Hancock bio.
I made the mistake of getting this and thinking it would pass the time on a long motorway journey.
Huge error on my part! I was discovered by a very kind traffic police officer on the hard shoulder of the M6 crying. He thought there was something terribly wrong with me! I had been laughing so much that I could not see and thought it best to pull over before I crashed and ended up face...
Simply brilliant. Six discs, twelve shows, all recorded in the last few years, these show Humph and the teams to be as fresh, witty, racy and entertaining as ever. Featuring a range of high profile guests, including Phill Jupitus, Sandi Toksvig, Andy Hamilton, and Jeremy Hardy amongst others, this is an absolute riot of fun. Interestingly, almost every show includes One Song to the Tune of Another...
