One of the first things a viewer notices about Cloverfield is that it doesn't play by ordinary storytelling rules, making this intriguing horror film as much a novelty as an event. Told from the vertiginous point-of-view of a camcorder-wielding group of friends, Cloverfield begins like a television soap opera about young Manhattanites coping with changes in their personal lives. Rob...
Three seasons into Supernatural and brothers Sam and Dean Winchester are still attracting trouble. For the pair have a talent for battling the kind of spirits and creatures that are best kept locked away in nightmares--and it’s fair to say their journey has taken its toll on them.
As we join them in the third season of Supernatural, their travels and adventures take in a mixture...
Backed by Guillermo del Toro and yet made by a surprisingly inexperienced group of film makers (especially considering the end result), The Orphanage is a chilling, tense supernatural thriller that could certainly teach more established directors a thing or two about how to send shivers down the spine.
It tells the story of a woman, Laura, returning to the orphanage where she was raised...
To date Stanley Kubrick remains one of cinema's most controversial film-maker. This box set highlights some of his greatest work, from the visionary 2001:A Space Odyssey, the violent and highly-debated A Clockwork Orange, the chilling adaptation of The Shining, the acclaimed war drama Full Metal Jacket, to his final piece, the controversial Eyes Wide Shut. And to...
Inspired by the Brothers Grimm, Jorge Luis Borges, and Guillermo del Toro's own unlimited imagination, Pan's Labyrinth is a fairytale for adults. Ofelia (Ivana Baquero) may only be 12, but the worlds she inhabits, both above and below ground, are dark as anything del Toro has conjured. Set in rural Spain, circa 1944, Ofelia and her widowed mother, Carmen (Ariadna Gil, Belle Epoque), have...
I did not see this show on cable TV when it was on, but bought the box set because of the low price. I am very glad I did. I find the series extremely entertaining. It remains me of Forever Knight in ways. I love vampire shows, and this definitely is worth the watch. With my region free dvd player, I could get this from England and still watch it in the good old USA. Thanks for a great show....
After what felt like forever following the cancellation of this series on TV, I was soooo pleased to get my hands on this DVD. I love the chemistry between Mick and Beth and the mass of funny one liners the show is full of.
I was hooked from the very first episode and thought the plot lines were great. With maybe a bit of luck following DVD sales they may reinstate the show - fingers...
The Alien Quadrilogy is a nine-disc box set devoted to the four Alien films. Although previously available on DVD as the Alien Legacy, here the films have been repackaged with vastly more extras and with upgraded sound and vision. For anyone who hasn't been in hypersleep for the last 25 years this series needs no introduction, though for the first time each film now comes in both...
What can I say? As the one of the series biggest fans, I thought it couldn't get much worse than the terrible RE: Apocalypse and Extinction garbage, which, in my mind put a bad name on the franchise.
Typical story, not much exciting, with your basic politics and 'there's been a accident (again?!) let's make it better' routine, however the obvious nature of this movie might have been saved if...
