Bought this book in December 2006, finally got round to reading it in May, have not smoked since. Btw - I started smoking in 1990 and was a chain smoker, going up to 40 (some days even 60) a day. Am so glad I kicked this disgusting and expensive habit.
Not good: will I finish it? Won't I? Guess I'll have to if I want to assess fairly, but it'll be hard work. Arrogance seeps through every word and, at the end of the day, he's repeatedly hammering home one point that anyone with a degree of critical thinking will be aware of anyway.
Not quite the gripping read that the reviews had me believing it would be. I was expecting some tantalising narrative, imaginative characterisation and a poignant denouement - instead I got a load of electrical charts. Is this postmodernism gone mad?
I am about to order this. After reading the reviews I can't wait to get my hands on this and read it cover to cover to get all 17th,ed and ready for my next NICEIC inspection. It will be great, more regs, more questions, more trying to explain to customers. I may opt (have to) to go on a course aswell which is excellent as I was wondering where to go on holiday this year. You'll fly through this book. They give economics a sharp taste, but it's not drivell that they're talking. Indeed much of what they write is witty and convincing at the same time which I'd say is something difficult to achieve with such a subject.
It's not got 5 stars because despite the title 'Rogue Economist' the fellow is a little too PC. You'll see what I mean if you read the book....

Readable, passionate, but... if true, the latest financial crash would have seen another swift extension of market power. But does govt control or ownership of the banks, talk of aggressive new regulation or the 'end of capitalism' sound like capitalism making hay? Are we really seeing a retreat from govt or state activity in the face of recession?
A clear and well set out book detailing approximately 20 theorists who have had influences in the way we approach early years education.
I would normally dip in and out of text books but this one I was happy to read as it's set out in such a undemanding and informative way.
